Junior Legislative and Public Policy Associate

Arnold & Porter’s Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group is seeking a junior associate (1st to 3rd year) for its Washington, DC office.
 
With approximately 30 professionals in Washington and California, the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group advocates for clients before the United States Congress and the departments and agencies of the Executive branch.  Professionals in this group include Executive branch political appointees and a bipartisan group of congressional staff alumni.  

The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group is Chambers-rated as one of the nation’s best practice groups for public policy advising and advocacy.  The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group works in a high-energy, fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and teamwork in the pursuit of quality client service.  The primary focus of the group is congressional and regulatory advocacy on topics including: energy and environment, tax, financial services, technology and telecommunications, trade, transportation, healthcare and life sciences, insurance, education, and congressional investigations.  Clients include globally recognized brands, Fortune 500 companies, innovative start-ups, leading associations, non-profit and not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions, foreign governments, and coalitions.

This position will focus on several specific policy areas, including technology, environment and energy, trade, tax, financial services, transportation, and insurance policy issues.  Qualified applicants for this position will have recent federal policy experience in one or more of those policy areas.  Relevant experience might include staff work in Congress for a committee with jurisdiction over the aforementioned policy issues or in a personal office for a member serving on one of said committees, or a corporation or association in a government affairs role that included engagement on those policy issues.  All applicants must have a JD degree from an ABA accredited program at a US law school and have excellent academic credentials and references.
